I have spent the majority of my career as a criminal prosecutor. I understand the importance of leading a District Attorney’s office with solid leadership and criminal law expertise. It is essential to ensure a safe community.

However, I also understand the journey that a victim’s family endures in criminal matters. In 2009, my father, who lived in San Antonio, came home from H-E-B. As he unloaded groceries into the house, he was murdered by a drug-addicted criminal on parole from another state. He managed to call 911 but passed away before help reached him. My mother returned home to a house surrounded by police and emergency responders.

It took over three years for my family to receive the justice we were seeking. The delay in this process and lack of justice inflicted a great deal of distress on me and my family.

It is imperative to public safety for a District Attorney’s office to run efficiently. Without it, criminals go free, taxpayer dollars are wasted, and victims do not receive the justice they deserve.
